Position Summary
Monmouth University is seeking an Associate Writing Counselor for a Write on Sports (WoS) program. In partnership with the Write on Sports (WoS) organization, the School of Education at Monmouth University is offering a two week summer camp dedicated to equipping up to 25 middle school students with writing skills by tying together their passion of sports with composition. The program aims at encouraging young students within the community to exercise their passion for journalism in a fun and creative educational setting.
The entire camp will be in person on the campus of Monmouth University from July 8 – 12 & July 15 – 19, 2024.
Write on Sports was founded in 2005 by Byron Yake, a former sports writer in Pittsburgh for the Associated Press (AP) and later Sports Editor and senior executive of the AP, based in New York. Understanding that the middle school years are critical times for students, Write on Sports and affiliate programs are designed to help students develop the necessary set of skills that can be applied to academic areas beyond sports writing.
This is an on-campus, in-person; non-remote position.
