Position Summary
The Department of Urban Public Health and Nutrition of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time 9-month faculty position at the Assistant Professor level within the ACEND-accredited Didactic and Master’s Coordinated Programs in Nutrition.
La Salle offers two nutrition programs: a Didactic Program and a Master’s Coordinated Program.
Graduates of the Didactic Program earn a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and will be prepared for a job, graduate studies, or a dietetic internship program that will provide eligibility for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential.
Graduates of the five-year accelerated Master’s Coordinated Program will earn a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition plus a Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics Practice, and will be qualified to sit for the Registered Examination for Dietitians to obtain the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential immediately upon completing the degree and supervised practice requirements.

Essential Duties
Develops and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition in a variety of content areas.
Performs student advisement and recruitment activities
Contributes to program initiatives.
Acts as a member of university, school, department and program committees and participates in other university service.
Engages in service to the profession.
Engages in scholarly work.
Secondary Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
Registered Dietitian, Commission on Dietetic Registration—absolutely required, no exceptions will be considered.
Master’s degree in nutrition or a related field.
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist or eligible for licensure at time of hire.
Demonstrated record of teaching experience in higher education, particularly in the field of nutrition.
Ability to utilize current and relevant technology in higher education.
Practice experience in nutrition/dietetics/policy and advocacy, and/or food service management, preferably including work with at-risk urban populations.
Membership in relevant professional organizations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Ability to work with a diverse staff, faculty and student population.
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related field.
Experience with accreditation standards, curriculum development and outcomes assessment in ACEND-accredited programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and supervised practice programs.
Expertise in nutrition/food policy, law and advocacy.
History of peer-reviewed nutrition-related research, publications, and/or presentations.
Evidence of ability to design, conduct and evaluate clinical, community-based, and/or food service management programs.
Established relationships with hospital-based clinical nutrition programs, institutional food service operations, and community/ public health nutrition organizations in the Philadelphia area a plus.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
Evening and weekend work may be necessary depending on teaching assignments and scheduling of open houses and events.
Local travel may be required for open houses and events.
