The Director, Business Analysis and Research will lead market-level research initiatives to inform investment decisions for Irvine Company Apartment Development. The ideal candidate will have exceptional written communication skills and a strong background in real estate research and financial modeling.
- Deliver high quality strategic research to inform forward strategy objectives, driven by coverage of key issues and trends impacting commercial real estate and Irvine Company, including market-level occupancy and rental rate trends, demand drivers, and construction labor and material costs
- Track and report on economic, demographic, and real estate forecasts at the local level; incorporate into investment briefs and other Executive Management Committee (EMC) deliverables.
- Monitor and analyze the strategies and financial performance of public REITs and other real estate firms that operate within Coastal California markets.
- Track third party land and multifamily asset transaction activity.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key third party research providers, consultancies, and economic forecasters.
- Contribute to divisional Quarterly Business Review (QBR) deliverables, Board packages, capital requests, and other finance-led work products.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in a related curricula; MBA or Masters a plus
- Demonstrated research experience. Demonstrated interest in an analytic research or strategy-focused career. Minimum 5 to 7 years experience, preferably in a finance, consulting, or market research capacity. MBA preferred.
- Superior written and verbal communication. Ability to quickly synthesize complicated information from multiple sources into concise, relevant, and timely briefs with clear “next step” strategy considerations.
- Superior analytic competency. Keen understanding of financial statement analysis, public company SEC filings, and relative comparison analytics; high-level corporate finance and real estate valuation
- Intellectual curiosity. Strives for thought leadership, diversity in perspective, and creative approach within all work product. Keen awareness of the “big picture”; self-starter with curious mind
- Extreme attention to detail. Highly values precision and perfection in all submitted work product
- Highly organized / adaptive. Able to efficiently and productively manage ever-changing priorities and demands on a lean team; willingness to “roll up your sleeves” for the sake of group productivity

- Valid driver’s license; valid vehicle insurance
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Occasional travel required
- Ability to influence others and effectively negotiate to achieve optimal outcomes
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $139,400.00 - $194,100.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
