POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position performs as a technical liaison for the repair shop team, field service and field sales personnel in performance of customer repair projects, shop modernization projects and general engineering and drafting in support of same. The primary objective is to ensure that good and sufficient technical oversight, where required, is applied to mechanical repair and modernization work performed within the Houston Service Center.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES:
Apply engineering principles in the development of repair recommendations for turbomachinery
Executes service engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, computer programs and criteria which may involve independent action and decision.
Support reverse engineering of non-Elliott product to achieve the successful completion of component repairs.
Collaborates with other departments to insure prompt and effective problem-solving of reported service shop troubles for assigned product line.
Performs liaison functions with other engineering departments on the specification, manufacturing, assembly, material quality, testing, repair, performance and operation, for assigned product(s). Includes consulting with field service, service parts, and service repair on field trouble jobs, defective parts, rebuilds, rework, etc., and to rerate group on new parts orders, engineering studies and design changes.
Initiate drafting requests and approve layout and detail drawings relating to shop problems and service order requests.
Prepares and reviews assigned work scopes for the repair of turbomachinery
Review customer specifications as required and provide comments and exceptions to quality, inspection, and testing related items.
Review and disposition product non-conformances.
Assist in customer witness inspections and tests as necessary.
BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace), Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology, equivalent four year degree.
5+ years' experience in turbomachinery engineering or related experience including but not limited to fabrication, machining, & creation of industrial equipment.
Possesses good work habits, promptness, and dependability.
Exhibits desire for continuous education and training effort.
Self-directed worker, with good work ethic.
Disciplined, able to follow directions and procedures.
Professional and business-like behavior.
Above average communications skills, verbal, and written.
Excellent computer skills regarding Word, Excel, and Power Point. basic CAD and FEA abilities, and able to operate with Elliott Business Systems.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
Developed time management skills, with an ability to balance demand among various projects.
Ability to make and explain decisions.
Basic ability to lead teams in problem solving.
An understanding of how designs effect manufacturing
Knowledge of standard drawing symbols
