Community Engagement Coordinator
The Community Police Commission is a 13 member, diverse board created by voters in 2021 and is responsible for Civilian Oversight of the Cleveland Division of Police. Duties, powers and responsibilities of the CPC include engaging the community in police policy creation and building a collaborative relationship between the police and communities they serve.
Examples of Duties
Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of full-time, paid, progressively responsible experience in program administration is required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
Supplemental Information
Working in conjunction with the Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist the Community Engagement Coordinator will help develop and implement a strategy to identify, initiate, and deepen relationships with various community stakeholders
Support the CPC’s Community Outreach and Engagement Committee, its work groups, and other committees
Coordinate the logistics of Commissioner-led community forums, town halls and other events
Implement surveys and other communications with the community and receive feedback on CPC recommendations
Attend community meetings, officer meetings, and other meetings as directed on behalf of the Commission to hear community concerns and provide information about community engagement and feedback on the police reform process; regularly report observations to the Commission both orally and written
Attend non-CPC programs and events relevant to better understanding community interests and activities
Educate and inform Community members on a wide range of Consent Decree issues and issues related to the duties and responsibilities of the Commission.
Assure that the CPC is accessible to people who are differently abled, English as a second language speakers, and all who may be unable to access the Commission and its work through traditional means
Create and maintain a database of community members and organizations that can provide expertise in various core areas
Experience with creating print media and marketing materials (Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
Maintain a flexible schedule outside traditional work hours
Complete other duties assigned by the Executive Director
