Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in education or related field.
Required Experience:
3 years of experience in student affairs, student life, or a related area within a higher education setting
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Supervisory skills (Basic)
Ability to effectively communicate, in written or oral form, and follow procedures and instructions (Proficient)
Ability to effectively plan, organize, implement, and evaluate programs effectively (Proficient)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership or related field.
Preferred Experience:

The Assistant Director of Student Life at BRCC plays a crucial role in fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus environment. This position supports the holistic development of students through oversight and coordination of student activities, leadership programs and various student organizations. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with students, staff and faculty to create a dynamic campus life that enhances student engagement, retention and success.
40% Student Organizations:
Assists the Director in providing leadership and guidance to all student clubs and organizations. Assists club members with procuring funds, making purchases, and facilitating training, as well as other needs.
-Provides consultation and assistance to student clubs in areas such as organization, analysis, team building, leadership, time management, and problem resolution. Responsible for regular communication with student organizations and creating centralized calendar for student organizations.
Host club advisor informational session each semester to keep club advisors informed and updated of changes that may impact their clubs or roles as advisors.
Works with the Director to ensure the appropriate and timely processing of requisitions, vouchers, and contracts for student programming, club events and departmental programs.
Secures requisite facilities for club programming/event planning and other departmental events. Review facility responses and ensure appropriate set-up design and logistics.
Works with the Director to develop and implement projects/programs to assist in accomplishment of departmental goals.
Works with the Director to develop and implement policies relevant to objective, short/long term planning.
Assists the Director in establishing procedures to ensure all internal and external customers are assisted appropriately and in a timely manner.
Facilitate the matching process for student organizations and advisors.
Works with the Director to design, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, and process audits.
25% Program Operations
Assists and develops student organizations' leadership training efforts.
Develop and increase culturally relevant and student focused activities and programs promoting greater involvement for all students and integrate student learning outcomes reflecting our mission.
Research best practices in student life initiatives and incorporate those findings into actionable strategic plans
Works with the Director to collect, review, and analyze material regarding the programs.
Assists the Director with designing, developing, and implementing relevant strategies and initiatives that promote student programming. -Coordinates the distribution of student programming materials between the various departments of the College.
Assists with BRCC signature programming events and student servicing department upon request
Assists the Director in the creation of performance metrics, reporting and improvement targets for all areas of oversight.
Conducts presentations, trainings and professional development as needed.
Oversee Presence (Modern Campus) platform for program planning.
15% Office Management
Assists in the overall leadership of the department and makes necessary decisions in the absence of the Director.
Assists in day-to-day operations of the general office with assigned areas of the administrative responsibility.
Carries out special projects as assigned by the Director, researching and staying current on higher education programs, trends, and issues with student impact, surveys of other institutions, prepares recommendations, draft reports, and prepares data for inclusion in presentations/reports to internal & external groups (in oral, written, and multi-media formats).
Represents the department on various BRCC committees and campus boards as needed
15% Student Employee Relations
Provides advice and counsel to students employed in the office regarding personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
Manages time and payroll functions of students employed in the office and recommends changes to the Director.
Participates in the preparation of development plans for skills assessment of students employed in the office. ·
Assists with the planning, organizing, and implementing of employee recognition events.
Monitors and responds to complaints and minor grievances within the department.
