The Physician Assistant works with hospitalist physicians in managing internal medicine ward patients in a challenging, but highly rewarding, academic community-hospital setting. Summary The Physician Assistant works with hospitalist physicians in managing internal medicine ward patients in a challenging, but highly rewarding, academic community-hospital setting. Physician Assistants collaborate with the hospitalist attending, resident physicians, and medical students from the University of Maryland Medical System within a team-based approach to clinical medicine. They serve as educators for rotating 2nd year Physician Assistant students on internal medicine clerkships. Patient care will remain within the scope of the Maryland Board of Physicians Quality Assurance practice under the supervision of physicians. Requirements License and Certification Requirements: CPR Certification required Must possess a State of Maryland Physician Assistant License, in good standing. Must possess a Physician Assistant degree from an accredited school. Other Requirements: Two years of experience as a practicing PA preferred. Must possess skills in the use of various computers and software programs. Must be computer literate. Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must be able to work efficiently and possess the ability to make rapid decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public. Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
