Stanford’s Department of Chemical and Systems Biology invites applicants for a full-time Research Scientist (1 year fixed-term) position to work on the regulation and function of RNA modifications in health and disease.
The responsibilities of the Research Scientist will include among others, molecular cloning, nucleic acid detection, highthroughput sequencing, RNA purification, protein expression and purification, genome engineering, cell culture, protocol optimization, novel assay development. The Research Scientist will be expected to: • Attend and present at weekly lab meetings/journal club, participate in and/or present at departmental retreats and national/international scientific conferences. • Participate in the training of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and research assistants as needed. • Lead an independent project(s) and contribute to multiple projects as needed. Make scientific and written contributions that warrant first or co-authorship on manuscripts for publication. • Maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes; analyze and interpret research data. • Assist with new research proposals and applications for funding and grants. • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary teams with collaborators • Meet with principal investigator and discuss progress reports • Stay on top of literature and current technology; propose new research directions based on new developments.
The expected pay range for this position is $74,000 to $85,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
