Job Overview
The Senior Director, Digital Content Strategy is the strategic planning partner with the Digital & Customer Team, Marketing Team, Project Management Team, Site Merchandising, and Strategy Groups. They architect the content strategy based on consumer, cultural, and competitive market factors. They lead the execution of Macy's owned digital touchpoints to drive buzz, engagement, and sales on Macys.com, and own post-campaign insights and reporting to drive efficiencies through the full marketing funnel.
What You Will Do
Strategy and Planning
- Own and manage Macy’s STAR planning calendar, aligning cultural calendars, customer needs, sales goals, merchant priorities, and brand priorities to identify top priorities and create content plans that drive digital KPIs.
- Collaborate with the Digital SEO team to develop a content strategy that maximizes inbound referral traffic through data-driven content planning, keyword opportunity assessment, and ongoing optimization.
- Partner with Digital and Customer teams to establish digital performance metrics from site, app, and content benchmarks.
- Develop a real-time optimization process that enables the Content Marketing team to swiftly capitalize on trending sales results and cultural conversations to drive digital business KPIs.
- Collaborate with Digital and Customer teams to build an audience-first email strategy that engages and delights customers while inspiring them to shop.
- Build and execute integrated content marketing plans for top digital business priorities.
Editorial and Curation
- Build and manage a team of writers, editors, and freelancers to create content that educates, entertains, and inspires customers on Macys.com, email, and app push alerts.
- Partner closely with the merchandising team to identify storytelling opportunities around products and trends.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams working on homepage development and manage curation editors to create new and exciting ways to feature products and drive sales.
- Partner closely with the Head of Social to align storytelling across owned and third-party platforms.
- Develop and execute content marketing partnerships with external vendors to drive earned media, sales, and sponsorship revenue.
Performance and Budget Management
- Partner with Digital and Customer teams to establish digital performance benchmarks and goals for the site, app, and content.
- Build a consistent reporting system that communicates digital and editorial insights, performance metrics, and trends to colleagues, partners, and Macy’s executives.
- Own, allocate, and manage editorial budgets to enhance KPIs and achieve business objectives.
Team and Relationship Management
- Provide strategic mentorship to direct reports and team members to implement and optimize digital content strategies.
- Champion innovation, encourage the team to take calculated risks, and foster bravery.
- Facilitate strong cross-collaboration between digital, marketing, customer, stores, and partners to bring campaigns and owned customer touchpoints to life.
