Associate, Infrastructure & Renewable Credit Investments – Reinsurance
Based in New York, Brookfield is seeking an Associate to support the origination, execution, and management of credit investments, with a primary focus on infrastructure, renewable and transition assets. Investment targets will primarily be focused on private credit opportunities across the capital structure ranging from senior debt to mezzanine and preferred equity instruments. This is a dynamic role with a flexible mandate; the role will also provide exposure to other asset classes, including corporate and structured credit.
Brookfield Reinsurance Partners Ltd (“BN Re”) is the insurance solutions arm of Brookfield Asset Management, specializing in raising insurance capital through M&A, Reinsurance and managed accounts, and investing the managed capital. The credit investments team is a part of the investment office of BN Re and is responsible for investing the managed insurance capital across the credit spectrum. BN Re has a permanent, evergreen, and rapidly growing capital base. Following the closing of the acquisition of American Equity Life, BN Re’s AUM is approximately $100 billion.
The ideal candidate will be a team player that demonstrates exceptional communication skills, strong work ethic, an entrepreneurial attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow. The candidate will be expected to work on multiple deals simultaneously and is expected to know how to manage a workload. There will frequently be transactions in asset classes that are new to the team, so there will be an element of learning and discovery that requires strong analytical skills. An ideal background will be 2+ years of investment banking, advisory, or buy side investing experience at a sponsor, corporate, or developer. Responsibilities
Sourcing and screening for new investment opportunities
Performing due diligence including comprehensive credit and valuation analyses
Developing and reviewing detailed financial models
Assessing legal risks and conducting legal documentation review, including term sheets, credit agreements, and other financing documentation
Conducting asset, corporate, and industry research
Coordinate execution with internal and external stakeholders (legal, accounting, compliance, ratings, operations, etc. Monitoring new and existing investments
Contributing to a dynamic, team-oriented working culture
Qualifications/Candidate Profile
Demonstrated track record of excellence in academic, professional, and personal contexts
Bachelor’s degree with a preference for a major in Finance or Accounting
Master in Finance or Accounting, CPA, MBA and/or working towards CFA is a plus
2-5 years of relevant work experience in investment banking, buy side investments, or comparable experience; Infrastructure & renewable investment experience preferred
Strong excel skills and complex modeling ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate internally (i.e., management and different groups across the Brookfield organization) and externally (i.e., banks, sponsors, insurance clients, third party experts, etc.)
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to learn quickly
Ability to multi-task and work in fast paced-environment
Strong interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach
Self-motivated individual focused on building a business for long-term growth
Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
