Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced FPGA Design Manager to lead our FPGA development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FPGA design and development, with proven track record of having done FPGA designs and with proven leadership abilities to manage and mentor a team of engineers. This role involves overseeing the entire FPGA design process, from initial concept through to final implementation, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of FPGA engineers.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities for team members.
- Project Management:
- Oversee all FPGA design projects from conception to completion.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, firmware and systems engineering to ensure project alignment and integration.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the required specifications and quality standards.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in FPGA design and development.
- Review and approve FPGA design specifications, architecture, and implementation plans.
- Ensure the use of best practices in FPGA design, verification, and validation.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in FPGA design.
- Design and Development:
- Lead the design, development, and testing of FPGA-based solutions.
- Perform hands-on design and development work as needed.
- Ensure robust and efficient design methodologies are followed.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of FPGA designs into the overall system.
- Quality Assurance:
- Establish and enforce design and coding standards.
- Implement comprehensive testing and validation procedures.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure thorough documentation of FPGA designs.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues in FPGA projects.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph D, degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in FPGA design and development.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex FPGA projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in VHDL, Verilog, and other FPGA design languages.
- Knowledge and experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus, etc. is a plus
- Strong understanding of digital signal processing, high-speed design, and embedded systems.
- Familiarity with simulation and verification tools and methodologies.
- Leadership Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Benefits of working at Microchip
The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $90,000 - $232,000.*
*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
