Overview:
Responsible for ensuring Wilmington Trust (WT) investment clients receive the firm’s centrally driven best investment thinking, allowing for customization when needed by the client. Leads the investment experience across the organization as a member of the Asset Management Senior Leadership team.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and accountable for the execution and consistency of Wilmington Trust’s investment experience and best thinking to Wilmington Trust clients and across markets.
Serve as voice of the client-facing investment staff, ensuring their needs and viewpoints are understood by senior Asset Management leadership. Assist Investment Advisors in client retention and relationship growth by advising on client and prospect situations and providing best practices.
Manage the Investment Oversight and Centralized Review Unit (CRU) focusing on ensuring regulatory compliance and working on complex new business opportunities, particularly those where assets are not liquid.
Oversee the national Investment Advisor Leads Program, which is a partnership between Asset Management and field investment staff. Lead national Investment Advisor and Regional Investment Advisor Leader (RIAL) calls to exchange pertinent information.
Work in a matrix management structure, with Wealth Market Leaders, to coach and develop Investment Advisor Associates and Client Portfolio Managers to support employee development, the ability to articulate complex investment topics to a sophisticated client base and career opportunities.
Partner with the WT Planning Team to obtain feedback on Paragon, an investment planning platform, to ensure client-centered improvements are made so that it continues to serve the needs of clients, prospects, and advisors.
Ensure investment trading and client reporting platform is optimally designed for advisors and clients by reviewing client reporting, getting feedback from Advisors and prioritizing improvements.
Work with the Asset Management Product team and Manager Research Group to optimize the investment product platform, ensuring the product meets client and Advisor needs.
Work with Marketing to ensure investment materials meet client and prospect needs.
Serve as subject matter expert for Wilmington Trust’s Education team to develop investment education for advisors.
Serve as a subject matter expert on the needs of client-facing investment teams by participating in divisional teams and committees, including the Investment Committee – Investment Strategy Matters.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:
The position works independently with guidance from the Chief Investment Officer and is required to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making. This may include decision-making in the absence of the Chief Investment Officer. This position has substantial contact with Investment Advisors and Associates, Team Leads, and Wealth Market Leaders, in part to obtain feedback on topics such as the investment platform, investment processes, internal and external communications, and client/prospect needs.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years relevant work experience.
Minimum of 3 years managerial experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong people skills
Proven leadership skills
Education and Experience Preferred:
Master’s degree in business or related discipline
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience
CFP (Certified Financial Planner) and/or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst)
Familiarity with financial and/or investment planning programs
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $201,089.24 - $335,148.73 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
