The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer is actively seeking a devoted and passionate Plumbing Trade Instructor. As a Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will supervise and instruct inmates in a structured classroom and on-the-job training program in the plumbing trades. This work is performed to ensure the efficient operation of the facility and provide inmates with valuable skills. Areas of concentration include general plumbing maintenance, preventative plumbing maintenance, and installation of new plumbing fixtures and equipment. You will be planning and assigning work to inmates and inspecting work in progress and upon completion.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

Other Requirements:

• You must successfully complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
