The work schedule will be PRN as needed.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works under the supervision of an RN to provide direct nursing care to children who have health and behavioral needs.
- Utilizes the nursing process to prioritize care when identifying problems and implementing treatments and behavioral plans.
- Works collaboratively with treatment teams to ensure effective clinical practices.
- Establishes trusting relationships with students to ensure the best interest of children are met.
- Establishes relationships and communicates with students’ family/guardian to ensure optimum outcomes.
- Ensures medications are administered as ordered.
- Obtains and records vital signs.
- Documents health services provided in accordance with COMAR and MSDE standards.
- Attends mandatory training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from a State approved school of nursing.
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maryland.
Certification/Licensure:
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent relational skills.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Excellent knowledge of case management and crisis intervention services.
- Excellent communication skills including active listening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position requires the ability to use full vision, hearing, complete range of motion and the ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
- Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to observe and communicate with others.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
