The Facilities Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking qualified individuals for current and future opportunities as Custodian, specifically for the graveyard shift. We are looking for qualified individuals who have obtained graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent and sufficient training and work experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities required to be successful on the job. If you have experience/knowledge of using:
1. Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.
2. Cleaning materials, disinfectants and equipment used in custodial work.
3. Safety practices and work methods pertaining to the work.

- Salary: Range 21 $3,734.61 - $4,591.51 Monthly
- Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under supervision, cleans classrooms, offices, hallways, stairways, libraries, gymnasiums, laboratories, industrial shops and other assigned areas at District buildings/facilities on a day or night shift; performs minor maintenance and repair to furniture, fixtures and facilities; secures schools, buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Custodian is the entry-level class in the custodial class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of custodial duties. After training, incumbents work independently in maintaining the cleanliness, appearance and safety of assigned District buildings and facilities. Incumbents in this class may be assigned to a day or evening shift and are responsible for ensuring cleaning assignments are properly completed.
Custodian is distinguished from Lead Custodian in that incumbents in the latter class are responsible for scheduling, assigning, inspecting and participating in the work of custodial crews assigned to District buildings and facilities.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and sufficient training and work experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

• If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.
Selection Process:
The following examination segments are pass/fail and may be utilized during the selection process:
- screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience
- scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application/ subject matter expert (SME) review. *** Please answer each question thoroughly as they will be read and scored by SMEs***
- in-person or online:
- written examination(s)
- qualifications appraisal oral examination
- performance examination
- technical oral examination

Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.
Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations.
