Develop, track and report key performance indicators for the plant and other performance metrics for area of responsibility, identify and implement improvement opportunities
Track production metrics and remove bottlenecks to achieve schedule compliance
Refine or identify opportunities for optimizing process controls
Participate in plant shutdown/turnaround planning and execution
Assist in the evaluation of any new products and or processes
Track process yields, establish targets/goals. Recommend and show improvement in yields in Glycine
Learn plant processes and become technical expert both internally and externally. Lead troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis of any off spec production or process issues
Modify (or develop new) procedures as required in accordance with plant policies for any such changes (MOC, etc.)
Train and mentor plant operations personnel on proper process techniques and changes to ensure continuity from day to day
Assist with loss prevention reviews and recommend/incorporate safety controls on new or modified processes
Other duties or special projects may be assigned
Qualifications
5 to 10+ years of experience as a production engineer in a chemical plant
A BS or higher in Chemical Engineering
Experience with Process Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment Reviews
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of office productivity software, including spreadsheets and word processing
Experience with standard operating procedures
Familiarity with health and safety regulations, PSM/RMP
6 sigma green belt certification preferred
High-level knowledge of process control software systems.
