As a Security Engineer, you will be a trusted advisor to public sector organizations, working closely with them to understand their unique security challenges and goals. You will guide them through their cloud journey, ensuring their Google Cloud environment is secure, compliant, and resilient.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $118,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Design and implement solutions to handle complex customer challenges. Develop scalable cloud architectures that optimize infrastructure operations across multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments.
Collaborate with customers to develop and harden cloud architectures that align with Google’s best practices and meet their specific security requirements. Work with customers to fortify their cloud architectures against potential threats and disruptions, ensuring continuity and reliability.
Provide expert guidance and support to customers during security incidents, helping them contain and mitigate threats effectively. Perform security and compliance assessments of customers environments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending remediation strategies.
Partner with Google's internal security teams and external partners to leverage their expertise and insights, ensuring a coordinated and effective approach.
Act as a trusted advisor to customers, building trust and rapport to drive successful project outcomes.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience working with client-side web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or HTTP).
- 3 years of experience coding with one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python).
- 3 years of experience in a consulting role leading or supporting enterprise customers with cloud architecture development, hardening, or threat detection.
- Experience in technical troubleshooting, and managing internal/external partners or customers.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (TS/SCI FSP).
Preferred qualifications:
- Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer (PCSE) certification.
- Security+, CISSP, or similar technical security certification.
- 5 years of experience advising large enterprise, telecommunications, or government customers.
- Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD Risk Management Framework, StateRAMP, CJIS, and similar public sector compliance standards.
