Responsibilities
Participate in and often lead cross-functional project teams. Primary objectives may include improving Repair Center operational efficiency, optimizing Repair Center processes, qualifying replacement components or suppliers, enhancing the quality of the product, improving customer happiness (internal and external), reducing repair costs, etc.
Support the introduction of new repair parts and modules to the Repair Center. Establish processes and procedures, build assembly documentation, and extend parts to SAP. Review engineering designs and documentation for completeness, clarity, manufacturability, and reparability. Evaluate and qualify new suppliers. Train personnel and oversee associates' efforts.
This key position provides hands-on support to the repair, assembly, and test processes for the Flow Cytometry Instruments and Fixtures. Must be an adept and expert problem solver who can determine the root cause of challenging technical issues. Must be able to implement practical solutions promptly. Problems are typically multi-disciplinary: mechanical, optical, electrical, and fluidic. The RCE-Project Manager will strive to continuously improve processes to achieve optimal efficiency for Repair Center operations.
The RCE-Project Manager will perform and document field failure investigations, identify root causes, and participate in corrective and preventative action efforts.
The RCE-Project Manager will often support and lead warranty and second-level repair efforts at vendors and suppliers.
Work is usually independently performed with general instructions as to the expected objectives; May receive technical mentorship on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed project plans.
Stay abreast of the basic compliance requirements in their work area and comply with those requirements. Participate as required in training on regulatory issues affecting their area of work.
Promote a safe work environment. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety programs.
Perform validations for new repair parts, products, assemblies, machines, and machine changes.
Identify and implement significant continuous improvement projects.
Work with Manufacturing Engineers, Global Service Engineers, Subject Matter Experts, vendors, consultants, and interface with other BD Plants and platform teams to design and repair parts or processes for new products and technologies.
Generate and submit new project ideas.

Minimum Requirement:
Requires a BS degree: ME, EE, IE, IT, or equivalent6 + years’ experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment
Must be proficient in the use of personal computers: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Windows, or Mac OS
Must be able to understand engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, and operational procedures
Must have experience writing and reviewing Engineering Change Orders
Must have proven project management experience, led continuous improvement efforts with cross-functional teams
Experience developing manufacturing /repair processes, writing procedures, and training assembly /repair personnel
The ability to assess and resolve multiple high visibility problems on time.
Ability to be effective with minimal direction. Recognizes problems and addresses them without waiting to be instructed to do so
Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards
Willingness to travel (less than 5%)
