- College level coursework in a related technical area preferred
- One (1) year related work experience with medical equipment preferred
Essential Functions:
- Reviews OR schedule on a per shift basis. Receives assignments and is responsible for assigned area. Is responsible to check in with the OR circulating nurse during any case that is in progress.
- In cooperation with the circulating nurse, is proactive to assemble equipment for to-follow cases.
- Performs transfer of, setup and tests functionality of specific medical equipment. Participates in safe, efficient and timely delivery of care within the perioperative setting.
- Proficiency in OR equipment including but not limited to:
- Microscope(s)
- Lasers
- OR Tables
- Video Technology
- daVinci Robot and associated equipment
- UGI/LGI scopes
- Other equipment as assigned
- Transports lab specimens in a timely fashion
- Participates in surgical room turnover as a team member. Is proactive to minimize room turnover by acting in a proactive manner.
- Performs proper care, cleaning, storage and transportation of medical equipment.
- Is able to troubleshoot OR equipment problems prior to, during, or after a surgical case.
- Is proactive to assure properly functioning equipment during his/her work shift.
- Reports damaged or defective equipment/accessories to the appropriate OR Leader and Biomedical staff. Reports physical plant issues to OR Leadership.
- Works collaboratively within a diverse work team. Is able to deliver work output in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Maintains Basic Life support certification (effective December 31, 2013).
- Demonstrates general knowledge on fire and electrical safety. Completes all annual mandatory education on time.
- Maintains good personal working relationships. Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning and time utilization. Maintains proper dress code at all times.
- Consistently seeks information or asks for assistance from appropriate personnel when necessary.
- Demonstrates flexibility in changing work hours for special requirements.

- Participates in departmental On-Call for this job category. Responds by telephone within fifteen (15) minutes. Responds by arriving within 60 minutes when activated on-call.
- Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to provide medical equipment support appropriate to the age of the patients.
