SITE OF SERVICE:
- Naval Hospital (NH) Jacksonville, FL in the Radiology Department at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL.
- Depending on the workload, the HCW’s services may be required in other clinics located within the Military Treatment Facility.

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
· Degree: Certificate.
· Education: Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Joint Review
Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
· Certification:
o A current primary certification and registration as a Sonographer from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S-ARRT).
OR
o A current post-primary certification and registration as a Sonographer as determined by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (S-ARRT).
OR
o Current certification and registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer as determined by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS-ARDMS).
· Additional Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) hands on certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
· Experience: One year of experience as a radiologic technologist or in the specialty area
identified.
· U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen
· English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
· Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
CORE DUTIES:
· Perform routine diagnostic radiological procedures/services as appropriate.
· Adhere to radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with Radiology
Department policies and procedures.
· Send appropriate image series to the radiologist for reading according to MTF protocol.
· Correctly position the patient for the examination and make technical adjustments
necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is
required.
· Process digital images and submit for interpretation by radiologists.
· Document all procedures and maintain records in accordance with MTF policy.
· As directed, perform system calibrations and quality control tasks according to the
manufacturer and MTF policy. Recognize artifacts and equipment errors and notify
designated Government personnel of outlying values.
· Initiate repair call procedures for equipment malfunctions by notifying designated
Government personnel. Report problems to the Biomedical Repair Section and record
the problem condition in the trouble call log book.
· Observe and report to the radiologist any symptoms which have direct bearing on the
patient's condition as a result of adverse reaction to contrast media and inform the
radiologist of any condition requiring his/her attention. Recognize the need for and
institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires
resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest
HOURS:
· Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0730 and 2400.
· Shifts are generally scheduled for an 8.5 hour period (to include an uncompensated 30 minute meal break) or a 9 or 11 hour period (to include an uncompensated 30 minute meal break).
· In no instance will the HCW provide services in excess of 80 hours per two-week period during Regular Duty Hours.
On-call hours
· The HCW shall provide the services of an On-call/Call-back Sonographer (Ultrasound) Technologist from Sunday through Saturday, including the day of observance of Federal holidays.
· The HCW shall provide On-call/ Call-back services for 8 hours from 2300 – 0700, Monday through Friday and for 24 hours from 0700 hours to 0700 hours Saturdays, Sundays and the day of observance of Federal holidays.
On-call Services
· In the provision of On-call services, the assigned Sonographer (Ultrasound) Technologist shall maintain possession of a Government issued paging device and respond to calls from the MTF within 15 minutes to provide telephonic clinical consultation. On-call is scheduled in one week blocks and commences on Monday at 2300, ending the subsequent Monday at 0700. On-call coverage shall normally be required every five weeks; however, on-call rotation may vary due to workload and staffing ratio. The government will assign a cellular phone or a beeper to facilitate provision of these services. The HCW shall be responsible for replacement costs if the beeper or cell phone is lost or damaged through negligence. On-Call services will not be separately priced; costs for on-call shall be included in the hourly rate provided for on-site service.
Call-Back Services
· While on-call, the assigned HCW may be called into the MTF to provide services. If required to report to the MTF, the HCW shall arrive at the Radiology Department, prepared to provide services, within 45 minutes of the MTF’s request. The Contractor shall bill for these services in accordance with the hourly rate for call-back. See Section B – Call-Back Services. Billable Call-Back hours commence upon arrival and preparation of the HCW at the Radiology Department to render services. The Contractor shall be reimbursed for not less than 2 hours when the HCW is called back to the MTF. If services extend beyond the 2 hour minimum, the HCW shall be compensated for the actual time services are provided.

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
