Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our Preclinical Affairs team. In this role, you will provide humane care and veterinary anesthesia assistance in conducting in-vivo labs. Your knowledge of anatomy and surgical methods will be essential in assisting with procedure development and facilitating communication with the preclinical team and cross-functional groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide anesthesia, post-operative care, husbandry tasks, and euthanasia with minimal supervision.
- Maintain detailed animal records in compliance with GLP Good Laboratory Practice regulations.
- Manage the inventory of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment according to regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
- Participate in rotational weekend and holiday care as needed.
- Escalate personnel issues through the Kelly SETT BPO Operations Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Registered Veterinary Technician certification required.
- ALAT, LAT, or LATG certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in veterinary anesthesia with the ability to monitor cases independently.
- Experience with large animal anesthesia highly preferred.
- Familiarity with GLP preclinical studies is desirable.
- Strong organizational and math skills, with the ability to follow directions and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to proactively initiate tasks and work well in a team setting with diverse opinions and backgrounds.
- Comfortable working in a research setting environment with animal models.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 60 lbs without assistance.
- Flexible with work hours; occasional shifts may start as early as 5am or end as late as 6pm, including rotating weekend and holiday work.
Additional Information:
- Must be able to reliably travel between Santa Clara, CA and Redwood City, CA locations.
- PTO Hours Offered: 75
