Examples of Duties
Under close supervision, supports geographic information system activities including but not limited to database development, database and map maintenance, application development and testing in the Department of Public Works: Engineering and Construction.
Assists in the development and maintenance of topologically structured versioned geodatabases.
Assists in the development and maintenance of geodatabase specifications, database dictionaries and technical procedures.
Performs quality assurance/quality control testing on geodatabases.
Assists in developing agency requirements and designs for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications.
Assists in the design, construction and testing of ETL processes using model builder, python, FME, and other ETL tools.
Performs analysis on a broad variety of geodatabases.
Performs geodatabase certifications according to GIS Service Level Agreements.
Analyzes geodatabases and related databases using structured query language (SQL).
Executes GIS application test plans.
Creates Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata for geodatabase development and maintenance projects.
Provides on-site technical assistance to supported departments and agencies.
Provides access to GIS products and services available to internal and external customers.
Provides on-call support for County Emergency Operations Center.
Participates on the GIS Committee.
Provides quality customer service.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Cartography or a related field.
(Experience using a geographic information system may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required education.)
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
