Position: Systems Engineer Infrastructure – 1st (8am-5pm) or 2nd (2pm - 11pm) shift
Starting annual base salary $90,000 - 110,000 (DOE) plus wide array of benefits
Outstanding opportunity to join our small, but talented IT team providing end-user computer support and business systems support for a family-owned, mid-market (and rapidly growing) seafood distribution and retail company.
We are looking for a Hyper-Converged infrastructure (HCI) Systems Engineer with a strong understanding of Dell VxRail, VMware, and Microsoft Azure best practices. -- one who is not afraid of taking on challenges and seeing the opportunities within them. The 2nd shift allows for quiet periods where you can focus on projects while providing support for our night operations. We are fast-growing and are looking for a capable “IT enthusiast” to bring more innovation and capabilities to our Infrastructure team.
Your job duties include a wide variety of administration, analysis, and support tasks including:
- VMware, VxRail, Nutanix, Hyper-V, and Azure deployments, operations, administration, management, and knowledge transfer
- Managing on-site, off-site, and cloud IT infrastructure.
- Management of Active Directory environments.
- Management of Linux based appliances, and Windows/Linux servers
- Managing Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, AWS, and Security Endpoint Protection Portals.
- Managing small to medium-sized infrastructure projects such as deployment of new Internet connection, implementing spam filtering, and evaluation of new system management software.
- Leveraging various scripting tools (PowerShell, VB, Python, etc.) to optimize and manage our IT infrastructure using cloud based RMM tool.
- Responding to and resolving end user IT support requests and assigned project tasks using ITSM ticketing system.
- Managing service ticket queue, prioritizing requests, and performing work to meet or exceed end user expectations.
- Updating and creating documentation or standard operating procedure (SOP).
- Setting up new user desktops and laptops with the necessary business applications.
- Configuring and troubleshooting hardware - computers, printers, mobile phones, networking, wiring, etc.
- Interacting with non-technical business users to solve their technical AND business challenges related to their computer systems.
- Respond to any issues regarding backups.
Qualifications
This is a challenging position that requires the ability to analyze, prioritize, and resolve issues. The ability to multitask is a must. You must be able to work on everything from simple end-user issues to complex issues affecting multiple systems. In addition to daily tasks, you will take part in a variety of interesting projects.
Here's what you need to have in order to be considered:
Required (please do not apply for this position if you don't have all the qualifications listed below):
- Strong hands-on experience with hypervisor and compute virtualization technologies (VMware, Vxrail, VSphere, vCenter, vCloud, VMware View, vRealize, vSAN, NSX, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure).
- Thorough understanding of virtualized and hyper-converged environments with a focus on VxRail and Nutanix.
- Expertise experience on VMware vSphere upgrade, P2V V2V Migration and VMware VMs to Azure Migration along with PowerShell scripting.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Design, Test, and document Disaster Recovery plans for VMware and Azure.
- Strong Troubleshooting skills on ESXi servers using Command Line.
- Should be able to provide capacity planning & sizing.
- Creating Clusters for High Availability (HA) and Distributive Resource Scheduling (DRS).
- Configured Resource Pool, V Motion, Alerts, Alarms, NTP.
- Performing Snapshots, Cloning, Cold Migrations and Hot Migrations.
- Creating Templates from VMs, deploy VMs from templates and allocate resources.
· Ability to understand, design, and deploy high performance and resilient IT Infrastructure architecture.
- Hands-on experience managing Active Directory environments.
- Experience managing Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, AWS, and Security Endpoint Protection Portals.
- Excellent customer service, organizational skills, and oral and written communication skills. Clear speaking ability on the phone, via email, and in-person is absolutely required.
- You need to know how to politely admit when you don't know something and tell someone that you need to ask the rest of your team for help. We're not looking for an IT "star" who thinks he/she can solve all the problems, but instead we want someone that can admit when they need assistance and leverage our stellar team and tools.
- Ability to work without any supervision. You will be given a lot of flexibility which can be both exciting and overwhelming. We're looking for someone who can exercise discretion, independent judgment, and prioritize work as needed.

- Office365 Application Suite Experience (OneDrive/Power apps /PowerBI/Power Automate)
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing Layer 3 switches, firewalls, and VPN appliances.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise cloud based RMM tools
- Hands-on experience managing requests using cloud-based ticketing systems. (ITSM experience is a plus)
- Hands-on experience working in a Windows based environment troubleshooting issues with end-users.
- Hands-on experience managing ERP Systems in food service, distribution, or retail environments
- Hands-on experience managing POS Systems in B2C environments
- VMware, AWS & Azure certifications
- MCSE/MCITP, CCNA certification
- Database Administration experience (SQL/MySQL)
- Familiarity with wireless RF technologies and warehouse hardware (scanners, forklift computers, production stations).
