Job Abstract

Directs and coordinates activities of the production shift - plan, organize and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard.

Specific Responsibilities:
• Ensure shift meets profitable production goals and quality goals, while remaining within budget limitations.
• Lead continuous improvement programs and manufacturing process improvements by applying appropriate processes and problem-solving tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
• Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization – consult with Engineering and Maintenance personnel relative to modification of machines.
• Organize and cross-train worker teams for maximum production flexibility.
• Provide input in establishing production and quality control standards.
• Assist the coordination and execution of production trials, process improvement projects through team project management.
• Use KPIs to assess, analyze and track manufacturing process as it relates to goals and objectives.
• Ensure implementation and evolution of safety guidelines and procedures – conduct monthly safety meetings, oversee safety-related training, implement, and enforce safety guidelines, conduct accident investigations, ensure compliance with safety regulations and programs.
• Provide input to Production Manager on developing budget and plant cost controls.
• Monitor every stage of production, analyzing current methods and developing new ways to save steps, time, and materials in order to reduce costs.
• Coordinate the hiring and training of all shift production personnel.
• Responsible for shift production workforce performance - fully engages workforce and promotes personal accountability by identifying goals, empowering employees, foster continuous learning by providing ongoing feedback on employee performance with formal evaluations and regular one-on-one coaching.
