American Humane is seeking an experienced Applications Manager to provide oversight and project management to a diverse portfolio of applications. Position summary: The Applications Manager is responsible for providing oversight and project management to a diverse portfolio of applications critical to American Humane’s daily operations. Taking a collaborative approach, the Manager will take the lead role in managing ongoing projects, initiating new ones and ensuring their successful implementation and ongoing use, across various departments, including finance, development, marketing, and programs.
Responsibilities:
Manage a continuous workflow of application and system development projects from conception and initiation through completion and ongoing management.
Lead the coordination and development of RFPs as needed.
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across departments and external vendors to ensure project requirements are met.
Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and implement corrective actions as needed, keeping the Chief Technology Officer updated on any issues.
Install, configure and maintain applications.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within existing systems and workflows.
Oversee user acceptance testing and provide ongoing training and support after project implementation.
Stay up-to-date on the latest IT trends and best practices relevant to American Humane’s application portfolio, including Intact Systems, Salesforce, FileMaker and financial systems.
Essential experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, IT, Business Administration)
5-7 years of experience in project management, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on finding creative solutions.
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, team-oriented and goal-driven environment.
Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall).
Experience with project management tools (e.g. Jira, Trello) is a plus.
Working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems is highly desirable.
Familiarity with financial systems is a plus.
Prior technical experience in software development, database management, workflow analysis, troubleshooting, programming, data analysis and/or technical support, strongly desired.
Prior experience training employees is a plus.
Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously that have competing deadlines and priorities.
Use sound judgement and discretion in handling and securing confidential information, as well as ability to conduct oneself in a highly professional manner.

Physical demands and work environment:
Position will be a hybrid of in-office and remote telework with the position based out of the Washington, DC headquarters office location and regular telework schedule based on organizational policy, need and manager discretion.
Must be comfortable with animals, in particular dogs, in the office and at events.
There will likely be opportunity for occasional travel.
May be occasional need for evening or weekend work.

Talk, hear and exchange information over the telephone and in person.
