Food Safety Lead
LOCATION: Belcamp, MD
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
Ingredion is hiring a Food Safety Lead based out of the Belcamp, MD site. The Food Safety Lead will be responsible for managing the Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Environmental Monitoring, GMP, Food Defense, and Food Fraud programs at the plant to ensure products and critical manufacturing supplies meet all applicable government and company expectations for quality and safety. Core Responsibilities:
Direct the planning and implementation of Food Safety Management System programs and procedures to ensure processes and products are safe and comply with government regulation, customer requirements, and company expectations.
Manage Food Fraud and Food Defense Programs (inclusive of Intentional Adulteration).
Manage and lead internal , customer, and third-party audits of the Belcamp facilities.
Oversee the microbiology testing and environmental monitoring program for the site.
Provide leadership, consultation, and direction to all departments on issues related to product quality and food safety. As appropriate, consult with regional and global Quality on programs and policies that impact operations to ensure expectations are accomplished.
Ensure customer specification and audit requests are addressed in a timely manner. Ensure all non-conformances related to product safety and security are documented and addressed effectively prioritized.
Ensures the Belcamp team is fully engaged in the food safety and quality culture.
Support operations of the plant to ensure timely and proper management of product release, plant sanitation, food defense, and food fraud programs.
Work with operational units to rectify any deficiencies identified in quality and food safety management systems.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring of direct reports to build their skills and decision-making abilities to achieve business goals.
Direct the evaluation, development, and training of department personnel to maintain a safe, competent, and motivated workforce.
Cultivate the food safety culture throughout the organization.
Qualified candidates will have:
BS or MS Degree in a technical field
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing Quality Assurance and Food Safety Programs in a food manufacturing facility
Experience with and understanding of FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements.
Experience with GFSI requirements. (FSSC 22000 preferred)
PCQI certification
International HACCP Alliance (IHA) HACCP certification
Ability to successfully complete (with passed exam) Lead Auditor certification to FSSC 22000.
Meet the qualifications of a Food Defense Qualified Individual (FDQI)
Demonstrated ability to lead change in a large Quality Assurance organization.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of motivating, training, developing, and managing people.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience with Six Sigma, SPC, and Lean Manufacturing principles
Sound technical ability and experience.
Strong leadership and coaching skills
Good computer skills
Experience with SAP
