The Payroll and Benefits Specialist collaborates with insurance providers, Benefits Administration, and Worker’s Compensation vendors to ensure smooth operations. PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist assists with payroll processing, including calculating wages, deductions, and taxes.
Ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist manages employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
Analyzes data to determine the impact of current benefits
Researches and analyzes benefit plans, programs and policies to provide recommendations and/or changes and improvements to ensure plans are competitive.
Communicates benefit options to employees such as health insurance, retirement plans, worker’s compensation and other employee perks.
Assist with drafting and sending COBRA or life insurance correspondence.
Ensures compliance with benefit regulations (like the Affordable Care Act).
WORKERS COMPENSATION:
Perform regular audits of benefits and Worker's Compensation data to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Prepare and compile reports on Worker's Compensation and benefits usage, costs, and trends for management review plans.
LIAISON ROLE:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist acts as a bridge between the Director of Payroll and Benefits, employees, and external vendors.
Assists with addressing employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits.
COMPLAINCE REPORTING:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist ensures that payroll and benefits practices adhere to legal requirements.
Generates accurate reports for management, including financial summaries and compliance data.
PROBLEM SOLVING:
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist troubleshoots payroll discrepancies, benefits-related challenges, and other issues.
REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field.
Excellent customer service skills are necessary for handling employee queries and resolving issues.
Organizational skills help manage complex payroll and benefit processes efficiently.
Proven experience as payroll specialist or payroll manager.
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field.
Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software and databases.
Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.
Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
