JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning, the Research and Assessment Analyst is responsible for assisting the department with: evaluations of course and instructor; providing assessment support to academic programs, administrative units, and student success units; and creating data visualizations. Responsibilities also include ad hoc research, data collection, analysis, presentations and reporting on various institutional data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the confidential evaluation of course and instructor process including implementation, collecting and analyzing results, and communicating the information to the appropriate parties. Create data visualizations that maintains the confidentiality of the evaluations.
Assist with supporting academic, student success, and administrative departments in designing and carrying out assessment initiatives.
Collect, manage, analyze and interpret assessment data.
Create confidential internal reports and data visualizations on employee outcomes.
Support the department with survey research initiatives. Maintain confidentiality when collecting, analyzing, creating and disseminating reports.
Records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive institutional and assessment data.
Completes ad hoc requests for grants and contracts that includes research, collection, analysis, and development of confidential reports.
Collaborate with OIERP colleagues to support OIERP projects.
Collect and organize internal and external data for analysis.
Produce reports and visualizations of assessment findings to share with constituencies across the institution.
Track assessment projects across the University using the institutional assessment software.
Maintain the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of all University data and information.
Remain current on best practices and research findings in the area of assessment.
Assist with department webpage updating.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree required. Masters degree in qualitative, quantitative, statistical methods or related fields preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in higher education assessment, including collecting, analyzing and disseminating data focused on student learning.
Knowledge of data retrieval and manipulation in tools such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, R, Tableau or similar programs to analyze and report research.
Knowledge of educational research, theory, and practice relevant to assessment of student learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must use tact and discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team with little or no supervision.
Must be able to make decisions supporting the departments mission and goals.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects and prioritize based on departmental functionality.
Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.
Must have interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
Possess excellent computer skills, including application software skills such as Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS, R, Internet, E-mail, etc.;
Possess organizational skills; attention to detail; proficiency in filing and general clerical functions; self-motivated, conscientious; ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
