Responsibilities

The Public Affairs Specialist, assigned to the SCE Directorate and reporting to the Deputy Director, is a full-time position responsible for creating a variety of graphics for web and social media, as well as presentations and collateral materials. They provide general consultation on public affairs and communication activities, develop materials for GHSD, and produce videos. The role also includes consulting on key promotional campaigns and writing content for diverse audiences across multiple platforms, including websites, reports, speeches, and social media. Additionally, they develop and refine scientific, technical, and other documents, ensuring clarity and accuracy tailored to the audience. They analyze subject matter and audience needs to plan effective and audience-centered presentations of information.
Conceives, designs, and executes a variety of graphics for web, social media, presentations, and collateral materials.
Provides general consultation on public affairs and communication activities.
Develops GHSD materials, consults on the PEPFAR.gov web migration, and produces videos.
Provides consultation on key promotional campaigns, including World AIDS Day.
Writes content for a variety of audiences, including internet, intranet, and extranet sites; reports; talking points; key messages; speeches; correspondence; presentations; brochures and pamphlets; fact sheets; issue briefs; policy briefs; regulations or policies; newsletters; journal articles; training materials; social media; success stories; press releases; media advisories; and similar products.
Develops and synthesizes draft and final copies of scientific, technical, and other documents submitted by others.
Analyzes subject matter and audience to plan clear, accurate, and audience-centered presentations of information.
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications: Must be self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, good oral and written communication skills. Must be in good physical condition and can occasionally travel.
MODERATE RISK PUBLIC TRUST clearance required.
Education and Experience:
MS/MA in Communications, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, Public Policy, International Development, International Affairs, or related fields.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
