ABOUT THE POSITION
The Mission of the Marin County Department of Public Works’ Water Resources Division is to minimize flood risk to life and property and to enhance the County’s creeks, wetlands, and bays in designated areas by providing proactive and responsive planning, design, construction, operations management, and maintenance services in the face of climate change and sea level rise by working closely with, and relying on, citizen groups and other County teams, municipalities and local/regional agencies. This Mission is consistent with the County’s and the Department of Public Works’ (DPW) in that our overall focus is to support a safe, healthy, and sustainable community and environment.
The Civil Engineer position will work under the direction of a Senior Civil Engineer managing the Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District’s (District) Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This position has responsibility for: project management; technical review of consultant deliverables; technical engineering analysis; collaboration with County and DPW staff; and representation of the District and DPW with the public and other agencies.
Signing bonus: In addition to a competitive compensations package, new, full-time, regular hire Civil Engineers are eligible to receive a $10,000 signing bonus which will be split into two equal payments: 50% at time of hire (i.e. first paycheck) and the remaining 50% after successful completion of their probationary period.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience that included functioning in a lead capacity.
Licenses and Certifications: Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
