Stratford Public Schools seeks a passionate and dynamic High School Technology Education Teacher with a deep knowledge of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Standards as well as the Connecticut Performance Standards & Competencies (PS&C) for Career & Technical Education. They will be responsible for providing instruction on a wide range of technology education programs to meet the above standards for the appropriate courses. Job Requirements:
Instructs students in all phases of video production (to include scripting, recording, editing, audio, studio lighting, directing and computer graphics) as outlined by district-approved curriculum.
Instruct students in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, WeVideo, and/or other current and relevant video software.
Demonstrates to students the proper operation and use of video production equipment.
Develops clear and concise instructional lesson plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and on-air time.
Provides individual and small group instruction and adapts the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities.
Uses a variety of instructional techniques appropriate for the ages and skill level of students.
Facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Collaborate with building staff, department colleagues, and administrators to maximize learning opportunities for students.
Assesses the accomplishments of students regularly; provides progress reports as required, and communicates with parents as deemed necessary.
Diagnoses the learning challenges of students regularly, seeking the assistance of school and/or district specialists as required.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Attend established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g. Back to School Night, Open House, programs, activities) agreed upon by the building administrator and the faculty consistent with the teachers’ contract.
Seek opportunities for students to showcase their culminating activities/projects to the school members or community.
Demonstrates professional growth by utilizing professional development opportunities to increase technology and/or computer science knowledge and pedagogical skills.
Maintains an inventory of instructional materials/resources as needed and/or directed by the Career and Technical Education department
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Certification in Technology Education (047 PreK-12th Grade) Required
Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
Experience teaching AP Computer Science is preferred
Deep knowledge of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Standards and the Connecticut Performance Standards & Competencies (PS&C) for CTE
Minimum of 5 years teaching experience or computer science industry experience preferred
Familiarity with Digital Video Production Systems preferred
Ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents, and school personnel
Must demonstrate knowledge of and be sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population
