What We're Doing
The Technical Documentation Support (TDS) group was established over 30 years ago and responsible for maintaining data repositories of documents created in word processing or desktop publishing applications. Over the years, the nature of the TDS group's work has experienced a significant transformation, shifting from a document-centric approach to one centered on converting requirements into the Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) database format. Additionally, the group has embraced the Common Source Library (CSL) approach, which has introduced product line variations into their work. Consequently, the sophistication and complexity of the tasks undertaken by the TDS team have risen substantially. The responsibilities of the TDS team have become even more intricate as they are now dedicated to facilitating the migration to the Jazz platform, all in line with the organization's digital transformation efforts. This new focus has added to the team's already complex set of tasks, requiring them to adapt and evolve to meet the changing needs of the business.
The Work
The individual in this role will lead the TDS team to ensure successful maintenance of documentation across various formats, maintain master copies of all Aegis specifications, oversee the incorporation of reviewed and approved changes into the specifications, and prepare the master specifications for formal deliveries to the customer. This position is critical to the team's success, requiring strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex documentation requirements.
Furthermore, the person in this role will provide support for 1LMX transformation projects and is expected to drive the evolution of requirements management, including Configuration Management (CM) control of requirements models in Cameo and/or Rhapsody. This responsibility requires a solid understanding of the latest tools and techniques used for managing requirements and the ability to apply this knowledge to drive process improvements and deliver high-quality results.
Collaboration with colleagues in Platform Engineering and other relevant teams is crucial to ensure that the TDS team's efforts are aligned with strategic goals and are implemented effectively. This collaboration requires strong communication skills, the ability to work well with others, and the capacity to build and maintain positive working relationships across different parts of the organization.
