Analyst, Business Control & Risk Management- Corporate & Investment Banking

The Analyst, Business Control & Risk Management operates within the First Line of Defense and is accountable to assist the Business Control & Risk Management team in driving effective and consistent business line execution against the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. Specifically, the Analyst works to identify, assess key risks and control effectiveness throughout the assigned business line by driving business unit adherence with applicable risk frameworks, Corporate/Business Line policies and standards. S/He will also assist with completion of business line risk initiatives, as assigned, such as risk assessments, KRI/KPI development and monitoring, and on-time remediation of issues.
The Analyst must be able to effectively partner with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct hit/alert reviews and investigations for New to Bank and Refresh including:
- Online and batch sanctioned hits for customers and related parties.
- Online and batch PEPs, RCAs, and adverse media hits for customers and related parties.
- Perform Quality Assurance on false positives and communicate deficiencies to the appropriate party.
- Manage the PEP declassification process and the trigger event process when risk(s) is identified during the batch screening process.
- Escalate hits/alerts to Compliance 2LOD as necessary.
- Assists in the design and enhancement of internal procedures and controls to monitor regulatory risk.
- Assists with conducting risk assessments on business and operational processes, procedures, and policies.
- Assists with the planning, gathering documentation, and execution of responses to audits, regulatory exams, compliance testing and self-identified issues.
- Maintains quality service by executing controls, interpreting results, and escalating issues as needed.
- Maintains rapport with internal stakeholders including the Front Office, Compliance, IT & Operations and other functional stakeholders by arranging continuing contacts and resolving concerns.
- Performs research, analyzes relevant compliance-related information and makes recommendations on necessary procedural/control changes on more complex compliance matters.
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of regulatory projects.
- Reviews existing compliance controls for regulatory updates and performs the necessary gap analysis.
- Supports management in the day-to-day efforts related to compliance with laws, rules, regulations and related policies.
- Assists with Business and Departmental meetings with the production of next steps/actions points and arranges for distribution and follow up, if required

Qualifications - External
- Bachelor's Degree; Business, Finance, or equivalent field., or equivalent work experience;
- 1-3 years; Compliance, Operations, or similar function, preferably in financial services
- Ability to analyze risk and provide recommendations and/or resolutions to minimize risk.
- Familiarity with (or a strong willingness to learn) the operations of a financial markets business within a global bank.
- Familiarity with (or a strong willingness to learn) regulations affecting a Corporate and Investment Banking business.
- Ability to build and foster internal relationships.
- Ability to change direction as project demands dictate.
- Ability to effectively and clearly communicate instructions to others, summarize and articulate issues, and document findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to interpret, analyze and apply data/information.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
