CDM Smith is seeking a new Automation and Controls Engineer to join a great team of over 20 engineers in our Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions! The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering excellent client service, delivering quality technical work products on time and on budget, and will want to be a part of a national team of motivated Automation professionals. As a member of the Automation team, you will contribute to CDM Smith’s mission by:
• Under light supervision, create basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D drafting programs. Develops basic technical memoranda related to design issues for clients. • Reviews basic to highly complex component level shop drawings. Provides responses to requests for information (RFIs) under supervision. • Under light supervision, creates basic to moderately complex human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), reports, etc. • Involvement throughout the multiple stages of application engineering (programming) projects - program development, unwitnessed factory testing, witnessed factory testing, operational readiness testing (initial startup) and functional demonstration testing (final startup). • Assists with the development of basic to moderately complex Operations & Maintenance manuals for instrumentation, controls and related systems after construction of the design has been completed. • Assists in the development of systems training for end users. • Performs other duties as required.
#LI-LP2 #LI-HYBRID • Experience with HMI/SCADA and PLC programming. • Experience with automation design and development of programming applications for water and wastewater projects. • Experience with Inductive Automation's Ignition HMI/SCADA and Trihedral's VTScada software packages preferred. • Experience with Allen-Bradley's family of PLCs that utilize RSLogix/Studio 5000 software preferred. • Strong field service and troubleshooting skills while performing testing and startup of instrumentation, controls and related systems independently with minimal supervision. • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline. • 3 years of related experience.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
