Join our AmeriCorps team on a mission to empower children through reading for lifelong success! We're actively seeking tutors for the 2024-25 school year. Unleash your passion – become a reading tutor and be the difference! How You’ll Take Action Be a caring adult that provides support to help students build their skills and confidence Track student progress and regularly meet with the school’s on-site coach Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software. Commit to your own growth as a tutor through coaching, training, and professional development. Or click here to view the position description. It Starts with a Passion Reading Corps takes everyday people and trains them to be great tutors. Anyone can become a tutor as long as they have a passion to make a difference – and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our tutors are: Dependable and have a history of good attendance Able to understand and follow instructions Open to making improvements based on feedback Capable of setting a pace and maintaining a schedule with students Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online) Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States* Able to successfully complete a background check *Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve in our programs at this time. Perks Package While you’re making a difference, you’ll receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks and additional perks! As an AmeriCorps program we have both federally provided benefits and program specific benefits. Federal Benefits include: Up to $5176.50 in Education Award Segal AmeriCorps Education Award* which can be used to pay tuition or repay qualified student loans. Time accrual toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Program Specific Benefits by hours commitment per week 35 Hours $1100 stipend paid every two weeks.
