Overview
Directly reporting to their Clinical Practice Leaders (CPL) at the Touro College of Dental Medicine, Directors, Director of Clinical Education, and Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs, Clinical Faculty are responsible for:
Responsibilities
Initiating and guiding student doctor/patient interaction and assist in transition to clinical practice.
In the case of the community practices, aiding in the continual review of student rosters.
In the case of the clinical practices, arriving prior to clinical start, providing guidance and direction in care of patients by monitoring student performance, treatment planning, and progress.
Modeling and advising students on professionalism and patient management techniques.
Assisting in solving patient related problems.
Assisting their CPL or Director in the review within their clinical practice, each student’s performance related to:
Quality and quantity of clinical care.
Each student’s practice and patient resources.
Each student’s individual roster and group progress.
Student’s ability to establish and reach patient treatment goals.
Determination of individual student needs and related time utilization.
Assuring accuracy of notes, charges, preparedness, professionalism, promptness and their subsequent approval.
Discharging and transferring clinical responsibilities if needing to leave prior to the end of the clinical session to the CPL/Director.
Monitoring unapproved notes and treatments on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, and signed by each CPL.
Reporting instances of misconduct to their CPL or Director.
Maintaining calibration as determined by the Director of Clinical Education, as well as:
Ensuring the clinical protocols are being followed in their clinical areas.
Infection Control Compliance.
Completing reviews of student activity upon request.
Aiding in supervision of Clinical Formative and Summative Examination Process.
Attending periodic meetings with specific CPL and attending clinical faculty meetings, including Faculty Forum.
Membership, if appointed, on relevant Clinical Committees. Current Clinical Practice Leaders include the following practice sites: Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, Dutchess. ** Current Directors include the following practice sites: Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, Intake, Radiology, Anesthesia.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
A D.D.S./DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school or equivalent required.
Previous teaching experience required.
Certifications/Licensures
Certificate of training from an ADA-accredited AEGD or GPR program, or other advanced degrees required.
The applicant must be eligible for licensure in New York State.
Physical Demands
This position requires compliance with Touro's Vaccine Mandate policy.
Maximum Salary
USD $135,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $108,000.00/Yr.
