Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Nurse Aide II performs a variety of basic patient care activities and related procedures in caring for the needs of the patients. He/She assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association only.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and demonstrated writing skills.
- Proven track record of compassionate care & superior service and a commitment to providing healthcare excellence…always.
Preferred:
- At least one (1) year experience as a phlebotomist or EKG Technician with health care background. Current enrollment in health care training program as C.N.A. or PCT preferred
- College degree preferred.
Certifications and Licenses:
- BLS certification through American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Nights 11:00PM - 7:00AM
- Every other weekend, schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
- Full-Time (37.5 hrs)
- 2 Week mandatory orientation
Essential Functions:
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, B/P, height/weight and intake/output measurements accurately. Reports findings outside of normal range to RN
- Provides assistance with ADL’s to assigned patients
- Provides assistance with the nutritional needs of patients, including feeding, mealtime assistance/set-up, supplying fluids, and delivering supplemental snacks
- Lifts, moves, turns, and transports patients out of bed, chair, stretcher, wheelchair, portable mechanical lift, etc., maintaining proper body mechanics
- Performs laboratory procedures as noted: venipuncture, EKG, GTT, blood culture, urine collection procedures and other laboratory procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse
- Demonstrates the 4’C’s of Commitment, Compassion, Competence, and Communication
