Job Abstract

Shenandoah University’s Wilkins Wellness Center is accepting applications for an RN/LPN. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

Wilkins Wellness Center nurse provides nursing services including triage, assessment, treatment, planning and interventions and referrals related to health needs of Shenandoah university  student population. Participate in monthly Division of Student Affairs meetings when available. Complete testing as appropriate, draw labs, maintain CLIA waived certification.  Coordinate lab services, pickup.  Other administration functions (orientation, fresh check, welcome week, monthly meetings). Collaborating with all wellness center and counseling staff  to maintain supply inventory and re-ordering.  Spreadsheets for administration ( monthly reports, covid spreadsheet, athletic spreadsheet, any new spreadsheets that need to be, coordinating schedules in Pyramed). Charting on students ( reviewing charts, signing off and uploading information in Pyramed, emailing, reportable conditions, lab follow-up, health forms). Assisting and meeting with students in completion of health forms and maintaining compliance for healthcare professional programs.  Managing xray, lab and referrals orders.  Assisting front office and administrative staff with insurance and billing as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Student appointment: triage (vitals signs, chief complaint), collect appropriate labs when ordered including blood draws, assessment, treatment, charting,  Coordinating with local labs for pick-up, immunization administration, allergy injections, birth control injections, have multiple students follow RN weekly–clinical site for SU Community health students.

• PyraMED charting : notifying student of resulted lab work, data entry of lab test & results, answering phone calls & documentation of call, running, follow- up student of concerns, including billing documentation, providing billing information to administrative assistant.

• Health form review and documentation review.  Communicating with students regarding compliance.

• Attending functions: summer orientations, welcome week, fresh start, wellness fair, ppd clinics at different sites, monthly meetings, any other meeting that  is required to maintain operations.

• Periodical review of clinical protocols and policies.

• Providing health education  - via programming, website, individual sessions.

Education:

• Required: Level: RN; Field of Study- Licensed to practice as an unrestricted Registered Nurse in Virginia

• Preferred: Level: ADN/BSN; Field of Study- Nursing

• BCLS certificate

Work Experience: 

• Required:    Minimum years or range: 1-2 years as a practicing nurse

                               Specific Type of Work: assessment, triage, communicable disease, phlebotomy, computer skills
