Your Specific Responsibilities:
Minority Health & Health Equity Initiatives:
- Serves as the Minority Health and Health Equity liaison for DOH-Volusia and Flagler. Attends monthly meetings and submits all required reports.
- Coordinates with central office and the Office of Minority Health and Health Equity to implement state-wide health equity initiatives at DOH-Volusia and Flagler.
- Assists in the creation of the Minority Health plan for DOH-Volusia and Flagler counties.
- Implements activities that align with the objectives in the Minority Health plan for DOH-Volusia and Flagler.
- Develops and supports innovative internal and external initiatives aimed at addressing health issues adversely impacting minority communities (sickle cell anemia, low birthweight, etc.).
- Advances a culture of health equity within the agency and advocates for efforts that increase health equity.
- Serves as a contract manager for contracted services associated with health equity funding.
- Serves as a team lead for short term health equity staff and projects.
- Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time.
- Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster.
- Completion of all mandatory assigned trainings within the required time frame.
This position involves the coordination, development and evaluation of the Strategic Plan and Workforce Development Plan that are required to maintain accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board:
- Strategic Plan:
- This is a 5-year plan that includes quarterly objective updates, annual revisions and progress report.
- Workforce Development Plan:
- This is a 5-year plan that includes quarterly objective updates, annual revisions and progress report.
- Track and maintain the Individual Development Plans for each employee in the CHD.
Incumbent is required to complete time sheet, work activity reports (EARs) if applicable, and mandatory trainings. Trainings may be deemed mandatory by Agency, Statute, Grant, Program, or County Administrator. Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to plan, organize and complete assigned work and prioritize work duties as needed
Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Windows-based business software applications including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to work independently and engage in critical thinking to identify issues and prioritize work.
