The City of Riverside, Public Utilities Department (RPU) is accepting applications for the position of ENGINEERING AIDE or SENIOR ENGINEERING AIDE to fill two (2) vacancies in the Electrical Division. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
The Engineering Aide performs para-professional office and field engineering work. Drafts engineering documents, provides field surveys and project design, performs calculations, and designs general layout for various projects.
The Senior Engineering Aide performs semi-professional office and field engineering work. Drafts engineering documents, provides field surveys and project design, performs calculations, and designs general layout for various projects.
Pay Ranges (Tier 2/3):
Engineering Aide: $23.35/hr. - $31.25/hr.
Senior Engineering Aide: $27.02/hr. - $36.21/hr.
Qualifications for Engineering Aide:
Education: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
Experience: One year of experience in the planning, design and/or engineering phases of (depending upon assignment) streets, sewers, storm drains; or electric/water facilities.
Necessary Special Requirements for Engineering Aide:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid Class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Qualifications for Senior Engineering Aide:
Education: High School graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED).
Experience: Three years of drafting/design, and/or field engineering work (depending on assignment) in the planning, design and/or engineering phases of streets, sewers, storm drains, electric/water facilities. An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, mathematics, AutoCAD, drafting or a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience:
- Producing civil and/or electrical engineering documents for mapping utility infrastructure facilities
- Verifying that as-built documents meet standards for completeness and accuracy
- Updating asset data and work order status utilizing Work Management Database
Familiarity with Oracle UWAM applicationExperience coordinating closely with contractors, inspectors, and utility crews during the bidding and constructions phases to verify utility billing quantities. Experience performing routine:- Electric utility plans and specifications designs, estimates, and fielding.
- Computations utilizing AutoCAD software.
Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Degree/Certificate from an accredited college/university. Completion of trigonometry or higher math courses. Necessary Special Requirements for Senior Engineering Aide:
- Possession of an appropriate, valid class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Assignment may require incumbent to obtain additional certifications during employment.
