SUMMARY OF POSITION
Interviews patient or representative to obtain information as appropriate for outpatient procedures. Perform screening of any visitors or patients entering the facility to ensure safe health measures are being met. Maintaining patient confidentiality according to the Aultman Orrville Hospital Policies and Procedures and HIPAA. Strive to maintain an error rate of less than 2%. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Register and interviews patient or representative to obtain information as appropriate for outpatient treatment. Check insurance eligibility through internal software. Patient consent, HIPPA privacy and Patient Rights forms signed.
- Explain hospital policies to patients or representative, obtain necessary signatures and route completed forms to appropriate departments.
- Contact physician offices for written orders for procedures when needed.
- Scan and index patient documents into internal software as needed.
- Strives to maintain an error rate of less than 2%.
- As needed, answer internal and outside telephone calls courteously and routes the call or takes accurate messages.
- The daily work hours for this position will be scheduled by the AOH Registration Supervisor to meet the needs of the department.
- Screener inquires reason for visit to Aultman Orrville Carrollton Health Center.
- Instruct to cleanse hands at identified station.
- Offer required mask if needed.
- Screen and log all patients using approved algorithms and tools.
- If patient -follow algorithm and proceed, communicate with department of any failed screening questions for further direction and assistance.
- Support and respect all AOH Carrollton Health Center team members, patients, providers, and visitors.
- Remain calm, use situational awareness, and notify security of any issues or concerns.
- Assist in cleaning up work area and waiting rooms to ensure a healthy and sanitary environment for all patients and staff.
- Communicate effectively with medical, nursing, and interdepartmental staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- High school graduate or equivalent.
- The successful candidate must have excellent customer service, confidentiality, diplomacy skills, and communication skills.
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment is also expected.
- Ability to use conflict resolution and negotiating skills to resolve problems.
- Consistently demonstrates cooperative attitude, respect, and ability to follow instructions.
- Completion of Annual Safety Education Tests, scoring a minimal of 80% per section, Fire Extinguisher and TB testing as required by Aultman Orrville Hospital.
