Job Summary/Basic Function
The Associate Director of Planned Giving will focus on engaging with, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding alumni and parents of Dickinson College who may be capable of making planned or estate gifts. By maintaining a robust schedule of virtual and in-person visits with current and potential planned giving donors, the Associate Director will maintain a portfolio of approximately 100-150 prospects with loyal giving or other indicators of planned gift potential. In addition to securing planned gifts, the Associate Director of Planned Giving will be able to solicit outright annual and major gifts as appropriate to each donor’s circumstances.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a highly visible, knowledgeable, and articulate representative of Dickinson College with the objective of increasing engagement and philanthropy for alumni, parents and friends
Qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward potential donors capable of including the college in their estate plans. Coordinate and maintain a visit schedule of at least 12 prospect visits per month/140 per year, or other metrics determined in conjunction with program/department leadership. Develop and implement written strategies for top prospects.
Maintain a working knowledge of common planned gift vehicles, tax strategies, and fundraising trends to serve as a resource for donors and College Advancement staff. Serve as a back-up departmental resource for charitable gift annuity administration, including understand of charitable gift annuities, use of PG Calc software, and creation of CGA illustrations and contracts for gift officers as needed.
Proactively engage with campus partners including Admissions, Career Center, Academic programs, and others with a goal of creating high impact engagement opportunities for prospective donors. Coordinate with all members of Advancement division to support engagement and stewardship events on campus and at other locations in the Mid-Atlantic or elsewhere. Attend on-campus events including but not limited to: Homecoming & Family Weekend, Alumni Weekend, Commencement, and campaign-related events.
Maintain a working knowledge of institutional priorities that may match donor passion and interest. Attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings to insure proactive, close coordination with and support of College Advancement goals. Utilize campaign, planned giving and related initiatives as well as individual donor interests with the goal of increased engagement and willingness to make a planned gift over time.
Support marketing strategies for raising awareness of planned giving; forward leads to assigned gift officers; qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward marketing leads that are not assigned to a gift officer; share marketing metrics with the major gifts team. Manage Old West Society welcome process for new members.
Preferred Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree
Professional major or planned gifts fundraising experience preferred; CFRE or similar fundraising credential preferred.
3-5 years work experience

A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period.
