Role Summary:
The Director/Vice President, Pension Actuary will lead actuary in performing valuation and accounting calculations for assigned Defined Benefit clients, manage personnel of the Actuarial Consulting Services Department, while accomplishing actuarial valuations, cost calculations, government reports for assigned pension plans, perform pension risk transfer (PRT) pricing, manage relationships with placement consultants, and coordinate with the appropriate Field Consulting Services personnel to provide consulting services to sponsors of assigned pension plans.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee annual pension actuarial work including development of funding valuations, ASC-715 reports and regulatory filings for assigned clients
- Manage Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) opportunities including responding to RFPs, pricing, and payment data installation
- Review New Comparability testing for Defined Contribution plans and other compliance testing for Defined Benefit plans
- Supervise and provide training to actuarial staff
- Provide technical training to staff and serve as an expert with respect to Defined Benefit plans
- Review plan termination costing and perform special projects and ensure accurate client deliverables
- Respond to questions and requests from relationship managers, auditors, and clients as necessary
- Assist with other projects and tasks as assigned

- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, mathematics major or strong mathematical background
- Minimum 10 year’s experience in a pension actuarial consulting
- Vice President must be a practicing Enrolled Actuary
- Must have the ability to analyze and make recommendations on actuarial and other Departmental matters and supervise and evaluate the work of others
- Must have extensive knowledge of pension regulations (IRS, PBGC) and General Accounting Standards (ASC-715)
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Experienced in the use and creation of Excel spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- New Comparability testing and Pension Risk Transfer experience a plus
- Familiarity with ProVal actuarial software a plus

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus, whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.
Base Salary Range:
Vice President (Level 9): $156,000 – $234,000
Director (Level 8): $126,000 – $190.000
