About the Opportunity
DB2 Systems Programmer
Design and implement DB2 database structures, including tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures, following industry standards and best practices.
Perform database performance tuning and optimization to ensure optimal response times, throughput, and resource utilization, utilizing performance monitoring tools and techniques.
Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to integrate DB2 databases with application systems, middleware, and infrastructure components.
Perform DB2 Migration and Maintenance to keep software at current levels
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including data integrity problems, performance bottlenecks, and system failures, in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure data availability.
Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls, authentication mechanisms, and encryption techniques, to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain documentation, including database designs, technical specifications, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides, to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure system reliability.
Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in DB2 for z/OS database management and mainframe computing, and propose innovative solutions to enhance our database environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a DB2 z/OS Programmer, with a strong understanding of DB2 database administration and programming concepts.
Demonstrated experience performing DB2 for z/OS migrations
Proficiency in SQL programming and database design principles, with hands-on experience in developing and optimizing complex SQL queries and database programs.
Solid knowledge of DB2 for z/OS features and utilities, including Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Manipulation Language (DML), and Data Query Language (DQL).
Experience with DB2 performance tuning and optimization techniques, including database monitoring, query analysis, index optimization, and buffer pool tuning.
Familiarity with mainframe technologies, such as z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and IBM Utilities, and their integration with DB2 databases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a high-pressure environment.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and interact with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within established timelines, with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Relevant certifications in DB2 for z/OS administration or programming (e.g., IBM Certified Database Administrator) would be a plus.
