Job Description
Manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates the physician assistants for multiple major services. Acts as a liaison with related departments. Promotes service excellence, participates in unit strategic planning, and remains current with related academic, hospital, system, state, and national clinical issues.
Job Responsibility
Collaborates with leadership to develop, interpret, communicate, and implement departmental, hospital, and system policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
Participates in the development of staffing models and budgets.
Reviews, monitors, and evaluates financial resources effectively.
Oversees staffing to ensure maximum efficiency and quality of care.
Ensures staff is current with credentialing and all mandatory requirements, and informs staff of any new pertinent issues.
Builds and maintains productive intra-departmental work relationships to optimize operations.
Reviews and evaluates trends in clinical activities and technological advances; collaborates with leadership to plan future service needs based on results.
Collaborates with chief residents to coordinate the provision of quality patient care.
Functions as a resource to physician assistants by way of personal instruction, mentorship, in-services, and lectures.

Job Qualification
Masters Degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program and National Board Certification in specialty area required.
Current License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State,
and Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
OR Master of Science required.
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education, required. Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), required.
OR Masters Degree in clinical nursing practice. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. CNS certification in applicable specialty practice areas: Adult Health, Oncology, Pediatrics and Psychiatry/Mental Health by a national certification organization (ANCC, AACN or ONCC), required.
6-8 years of technical experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.
