POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, Communications – Wine & Spirits serves as a member of the company’s Wine & Spirits Division Leadership Team and a strategic business partner who provides expertise, guidance, and strategic counsel to senior Wine & Spirits Division executives and other corporate stakeholders on communications-related matters pertinent to the business.
This role is primarily responsible for working directly with the President, Wine & Spirits Division and other senior executives to develop and execute internal and external communications strategies that help drive the company’s Wine & Spirits business strategy and financial performance.
This includes collaborating with internal partners to help promote, enhance, and protect the image and reputation of Constellation’s Wine & Spirits business and brand portfolio with key stakeholders including employees, consumers, investors, distributor and retailer partners, business and industry media outlets, government officials, and local communities where the company operates. As part of these responsibilities, this role will also work in close collaboration with Constellation’s international Wine & Spirits operations teams based in New Zealand and Italy, as well as commercial teams serving select international markets around the world.
This role will be based in either San Francisco or Napa Valley and will report directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Communications, Strategy, ESG and Diversity Officer, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Executive Vice President and President, Wine & Spirits Division.
Responsibilities:
Cultivate relationships and work closely with Constellation’s Wine & Spirits Division executive team to develop and execute comprehensive, integrated internal and external communications plans to help drive the company’s vision, mission, values, business strategy, and major strategic initiatives.
Partner with relevant internal partners such as Constellation’s Corporate Communications, Strategy, ESG and DEI teams to:
ensure consistency of message across various stakeholder audiences;
help drive education, awareness, and alignment in support of key corporate initiatives within the Wine & Spirits Division;
drive education and awareness of Wine & Spirits business strategy, priorities and successes across the enterprise;
and to effectively prepare for and respond to potential and emerging reputational issues and crises.
Develop and execute comprehensive media relations, public speaking, and social media strategies to garner positive exposure for Constellation’s Wine & Spirits Division, brand portfolio, consumer-led innovation, and mergers and acquisitions. Serve as an official company spokesperson and provide coaching and support to designated senior Wine & Spirits executives in preparation for various media interviews and public speaking engagements.
Manage, coach and develop Communications staff supporting our Wine & Spirits business and effectively manage outside agencies and consultants as needed to accomplish communications objectives.
Collaborate with Constellation’s Wine & Spirits operations teams in New Zealand and Italy, as well as commercial teams serving select international markets around the world to ensure message consistency across the organization and to highlight the work being done to accelerate growth in targeted international markets and in support of key international brands.
Position Requirements and Core Competencies:
Minimum of 12 years of experience in roles with increasing responsibility in corporate communications or public relations. Fortune 500 and / or CPG experience a plus.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field. Advanced degree a plus.
Proven track record designing and executing effective communications and public relations strategies that generated positive business impact.
High degree of business acumen, ability to think strategically, and confidence to provide effective advice, counsel, and coaching on communications-related issues to senior executives and colleagues.
Proven ability to effectively manage issues and crises that pose reputational risks to the company and / or brand portfolio.
Proven track record of developing solid working relationships with members of the media that result in positive exposure for the company, while minimizing potential negative exposure.
Proven track record of building strong and collaborative working relationships with colleagues at all levels throughout the organization.
Creative and independent thinker, capable of generating proactive and innovative approaches to support strategic business priorities and communication opportunities and challenges.
Strong executive presence and ability to influence without authority, as well as exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
Strong organizational, time management and project prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple projects, while meeting deadlines and delivering high quality work.
Ability to operate with the highest level of ethics and integrity, and to appropriately manage confidential / proprietary information.

The salary range for this role is:
$155,200.00 - $290,000.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
