- Patrols assigned area of the City by vehicle and on foot to ensure public compliance with existing parking regulations.
- Identifies vehicles in violation of public parking regulations and issues citations as required utilizing computerized hand-held ticket computer and printer.
- Reports missing, defaced or deteriorated signs and meter malfunctions.
- Reports unusual parking violations.
- Provides information to the public regarding parking regulations and facilities, and the location of streets, buildings and points of interest.
- Presents information and documentation as needed for court hearings.
- Wears and maintains designated (City-provided) uniform.
- Works cooperatively with City staff and the public to promote and uphold applicable laws, codes and ordinances through efficient, equitable and fair parking enforcement activities.
- Operates a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices on a regular basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Three (3) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES:- Vehicle Operator’s license with satisfactory driving record that meets insurability standards of the City’s insurance carrier is required. The employee must maintain the license for the duration of their employment.
REQUIRED SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.):- Ability to work with the public, exercise customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate and understand the English language.
- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Good verbal communication skills—ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to weigh more than one variable and think ‘on one’s feet’ to make decisions, solve problems, and effectively handle conflict.
OTHER DESIRABLES:- Ability to speak Spanish Language preferred.

The employee frequently is required to attach citations to vehicles and to position self to diagnose problems, detect malfunctions, collect information, and exchange information. The employee is occasionally required to sit and traverse and/or balance. The employee must regularly move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
