With support of LCFF monies and/or grant funding, MVWSD is seeking teachers to serve as Instructional Coaches during the 2016-17 school year. The primary purpose of the Instructional Coaches is to support classroom teachers in improving classroom instructional practices. Training of Instructional Coaches will be provided by District personnel and outside providers, as appropriate.
Subject to funding and available personnel, the District seeks to hire up to 10.0 FTE, with the goal of assigning one FTE to provide support for each elementary school and middle school.
In order to encourage all interested individuals to apply, the District is willing to consider a variety of alternatives, including assignments as part-time classroom teacher and part-time Instructional Coach.

JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach (Teacher on Special Assignment)
1.0 FTE
JOB SITES: Bubb, Castro, Crittenden, Graham, Huff, Landels, Mistral, Monta Loma, Stevenson, and Theuerkauf.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated strength in effective classroom instruction and management.
- Demonstrated strength in implementation of lesson delivery and design with CCSS.
- Completion of or readiness to be trained in ELD strategies.
- Willingness to provide coaching and support for MVWSD colleagues on a daily basis.
- Willingness to receive coaching from District administration, District colleagues, and outside providers.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an organized manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Work under the direction of District and site administration to develop coaching skills related to lesson delivery and design.
- Work under the direction of District and site administration to provide coaching for District teachers in lesson delivery and design.
- Collaboration with other Instructional Coaches, District teachers, District administration, and outside providers.
- Availability for additional meetings and training days beyond the school day.
- Willingness to be recorded (video and audio) for purposes of personal feedback and training of other District staff members.
- Willingness to provide demonstration lessons.
- Although not an absolute requirement, Instructional Coaches should be available for training during at least one week of the Summer program.
- Although not an absolute requirement, availability to prepare for staff development and to receive/provide training beginning July 25th (additional hours will be compensated based upon current collective bargaining agreement).
WORK DAYS: Based upon the 2016-17 calendar for MVEA unit members plus additional days and hours (to be determined).
WORK HOURS: Based on the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement between the District and MVEA as follows:
- 40 hours, 5 days a week
- Starting and ending times established according to the following:
a. the needs of the special assignment
b. the mutual agreement of the Teacher on Special Assignment and the supervising administrator
COMPENSATION: Instructional Coaches are Teachers on Special Assignment, subject to the compensation and benefit provisions of the collective bargaining
agreement between the District and MVEA.
