Job Abstract

We are recruiting a Director of Finance for a dynamic organization within the public sector. This is an onsite position located in Sacramento with reserved parking. The Director of Finance will manage three direct reports, be a member of the senior leadership team, and provide financial data and insights for effective decision-making. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and oversee the finance team, including three direct reports.
• Provide financial data and insights to the senior leadership team for strategic decision-making.
• Ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization.
• Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with other departments to support overall organizational goals.
• Oversee banking and investment strategies that support the cash flow needs of the organization.
• Provide internal auditing services and develop and implement effective and efficient internal procedures.
• Ensure that the annual budget is approved in a timely manner and that the Executive team has the opportunity for substantial input into the decision-making process.
• Monitor compliance with all laws and regulations governing finances.
• Serve as a resource on issues of financial management, budget planning and cost projections as requested.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
• MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree/credential preferred.
• 7 -10 years of progressive experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, including three-five years of supervisory experience is required.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Willing to roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team and provide direction and mentorship to other members of the Finance & Accounting team.
• Advanced Excel required; familiarity with accounting systems/software.
• Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills.
• Strong business acumen, knowledge and command of financial reporting and planning systems and processes, and ability to translate insights into operational action.
• Strong execution skills complemented by analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and quality.
• Best practices, methods, and principles of general government and fund accounting, including financial statement preparation and methods of financial reporting.
