Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, working closely with the Operations Managers, the Director of Central Research Cores, and individual Core Directors, this position will be responsible for financial reporting and analysis for units rolling up to the Research Support Administration Planning Unit, all under the leadership of the Vice Provost for Research.
This position will assist in budget development, and subsequent Q2 and year-end monitoring for the Planning Unit. This position will be responsible for the monthly production and distribution, of a cohesive and comprehensive reporting and analysis package against both operating and capital budgets against data pulled from several financial systems and subsystems. Adapts reports to address the unique needs and programs of the unit. Performs the initial review for risks and trends and reports out timely to leadership.
Specific to the support for Research Cores in the portfolio, in addition to reporting and analysis, the position will be responsible for a) managing the process for developing internal service provider rate calculations, including assisting with the costing of services, b) managing the timely and compliant billing of services (both external and internal customers), c) assisting science core directors with onboarding and offboarding of core customers, and d) driving major procurement initiatives including support of the annual Research Cores Equipment Grants Request for Proposals.
Recommends improvements to systems, methods, practices, policies, and procedures through information review.

Analyzes and synthesizes information and designs and creates accurate and timely reports. Designs financial reporting to meet the compliance needs of internal and external users. Extracts and consolidates data from multiple sources. 3. Financial Methods and Systems. Contributes to the planning and improvement of practices, processes and systems. Collaborates with all levels of internal and external contacts to carry out department goals. Provides a high level of service that cultivates and maintains strong working relationships and communicates effectively; takes ownership and accountability for timeliness, accuracy and relationship management. 4. Strategic Resource. Translates department finance goals into objectives. Identifies and raises potential financial opportunities, issues, risks, ideas and solutions. Identifies the appropriate stakeholders to include in consultations, communications, approvals or buy-ins for designing and implementing changes. 5. Compliance and Risk Management. Establishes, implements and/or maintains strong internal controls in areas of assigned responsibility to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements. 6. Mentors, leads and/or supervises staff. 7. May perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated application of financial, accounting and economic concepts.
